I have a red-eared slider that is about 1.5 years old. I just bought a baby Cumberland Slider (was unaware that this is ill-advised until AFTER having acquired it).

The Red Eared is about 6 inches and the Cumberland is very, very small. The Red Eared is "waving" or "shaking" it's hands at the baby. I've read so many different opinions. Is this simply a sign of dominance? The Red Eared has not done anything to the baby just follows it around at times. I was unsure what to do so I removed the Cumberland from the tank for the evening and the Red Eared frantically searched the tank looking for it--made such a ruckus it sounded like someone was in the kitchen opening and closing cabinet doors. He was pushing quite large rocks around and moving his platform.

Any thoughts?

They need to be separated immediately. RES can be very aggressive, could even kill the other turtle. They are very territorial. You'll need two separate tasks for them.
One RES named "The Hulk" (named by my kids. Lol ) 4 1/2" SCL
Rescued July 10, 2014 from a waste water treatment facility.

I agree with Joddog. Is the RES a female or male?
