Hello, i have 2 female res, both adults. As of 4 days ago i have been noticing the larger turtle basking much more than ever before, basically all day and a while after the lights go out. At first i thought it may be a nesting thing, today however i noticed some discharge around the top of her eye lids.

Ive read up a little and it seems like it could be a respiratory infection.
Just wondering if i could get a second opinion.
Thanks

Forgot a few things to mention, also noticed white dryness on skin (mostly wrinkles in neck) , she was scratching at her neck for a while when i was watching.

Also not really afraid of me when in this prolonged basking, usually she will jump in but this time she let me pick her up and then stayed basking some more.

Does she eventually go back into the water? Maybe the seasonal change is affecting her sooner.

Hi steve, thanks for the reply!
I had their tank outdoors all summer, i just recently moved them back inside 2 weeks ago. I was thinking the move may be why she was acting different, the eye discharge is what worries me thougj

Does the discharge go away once she's in the water?

It's somewhat normal to see a bit of mineral deposits around the eyes when they are out of the water for awhile. Is that what you're seeing?
