My tiny baby turtle has just developed white sores on his skin in the last two days and now he does not like to go in the water or eat. He just sits under his UVB basking light with his legs fully stretched out. His eyes are fine, and if you pick him up after he will swim around quite fine but never chooses to go in the water on his own. The sores go all the way up to the skin which is covered by his shell at the top of his legs. My other turtle is fine and healthy swimming most of the day.

Please help he looks even worse now!!!! I just added the 3rd photo

Possibly fungus. You need to separate them if they are together. Refer to the treatment listed at he bottom of this page: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/medshell.htm

Ok I will try to find the anti fungal stuff for the aquarium.

I always thought the other turtle was fine, as he is swimming and eating/growing just like all my other turtles have in the past. However he is quite a different color to the other one, I am now thinking maybe he already had a fungal infection? And has given it to the little one? He was a rescue turtle I usually find them in really bad living conditions around different pet stores here in Dubai and I look after them until they are big enough to go to a turtle pond.

They are usually in very bad condition as they all come from Malaysia in tiny little plastic bags and sealed up with no light. So I am used to all the problems to do with no UVB light etc but the brown one seems fine.

I will attach a photo of the other one with brownish shell, do you think he has a problem? Or it's normal to be a little different in color? It's also on his tummy

Also- if the brown one is infected with some kind of fungus, will he infect all the others at the pond? It is quite big with loads of turtles- big and small but all red ear slider variety. Also fish etc

One more thing- I also rescued a big turtle from a pet shop she had been in there for years and her shell was very white but I thought it was just due to lack of UVB light. She survived in there for so long. But she came from the same tank as the brown one, so maybe they were both infected? They look very different but they are the only two turtles I have seen that have quite a different shell color. The big one I took straight out to the pond I will attach a photo. I hope she is not infecting the others at the pond!!! The photo is at the top of the page

It's normal for them to get darker, but that brown does look unusual. The white could be shell fungus, and as far as I know, they are different micro organisms. You need to be keeping these turts separate.

Ok thanks for the advice. Is it possible for the shell fungus to spread in a pond environment? There are all kinds of turtles big and small living in there

Yes, fungus can spread easily.
