My RES got her leg caught up in a substrate I'm using to line the floor of her basking platform. I cant remember what its called exactly, 'exo-terra forest floor' or something like that which is essentially a bunch of fine green thread on a foam mat made to resemble moss. Anyway, while i was out this evening my turtle got it caught in the claws in her left hind leg and managed to dislodge a bunch of it and twist it around herself, where she got stuck till i found her about 4 hours later. It was wrapped around her pretty tight and i had to untwist it and cut it off. After she was freed i put her back in the water and have been observing her for 15 minutes or so. She can still move the injured leg, but favors not to and keeps it poking a little ways out of her shell , and while there are no cuts on her leg that i can see, the coloration around the webbing in her toes is slightly red. Shes acting normally but just not moving that leg, but its clearly been dealt some damage from lack of circulation. Do you think its a serious injury that should be dealt with, or something she will recover from?
I'm just looking for advice as to what i should do from here, if anything. I'm sure you guys know how worrying about your turtles go's. Any suggestions /comments welcome . Thanks !
