A friend of mine found a tiny baby slider in her pool. She has no idea how long it was in there. He is so little like the size of a quarter. She gave him to me in a little cup shed kept him in for a day. I moved him to a casserole dish. Hes been there for two or three days. I had him in w my hand sized RES..but I was afraid he would get eaten. So in the dish hell stay. I give him new water every day and feed him crickets. He gladly eats them. He has a heat lamp and uv lamp I take off my big tank and set up over his dish. Its a large dish compared to him...any way its not a permanent home. I have lots of other tanks we are just in the middle of moving some time in the next two weeks ill get his tank set up and buy him his own lights.

Any way to my REAL question. His coloring is bright green hes very bold and pretty. He eats..I havent seen him bask yet. He poops lol. But when I took him out to change his water today I got an actual look at him for the first time. His shell is very pliable. Is this because he is so young? Perhaps, they are born soft? Also, when I turned him over some patches of his carapace were...pitted. Like the way an old bone looks. If that makes sense.

he looks cute and otherwise healthy to me. But I just worry that the chlorine has damaged him some how. He also has a small bit of either shedding skin or fungal going on. But I think its shedding from the chlorine. However, i put a tiny piece of a sulfa block in there to hopefully help if it is fungal.

Theres his sad set up, I know that will be the first thing I take care of. Tomorrow I will get a pic of his weird underbelly. He's sleepin right now.

I'm not able to see the 2nd pic. Have your friend check for more of them in case there was a nest near by. Yes, a hatchling shell will be slightly pliable. I'm not sure what you mean by the pitting. Don't use those sulfa blocks or little white turtles.

Oh really? The sulfa blocks have always cleaared up their weird skin stuff ...why are they bad? And when I get home I will take a picture of the pitting. I have a cuttle bone. How will I be able to make it small enough for lil turtle....also my other turtle ate the sufla block...shoukd I be worried?

They are medicated blocks and there is a problem with over using medications, like you'll have more resistant bacteria or fungus. Shell fungus is a prime example of that. And as you noticed, they want to eat it :(

The best cure at this point is to remove the sulfa block, chalk it up to experience and move on. It should be OK.
There are other antiseptics that are much better for "outer issues" like skin and shell.
Just give him/her a healthy diet, clean water, heat and a UVB light throughout life, and you will have a happy turtle that will bring you joy for many, many years.
