Hi. My turtle has developed a white substance around her shell. It has spread now causing her shell to be dull and peely. SHe is eating normal. Just very irritable in her tank. I recently found out that she is itching on her shell and if I use a brush she wiggles around and scratches herself. Please help. I don't have a uv light. I have a heater, I take her out for about 10minutes every week or so. I have her for over a year. Don't know her actual age. She is about 12 cm big. Spends alot of time in the water. I have a normal lamp at her basking area. Thanks.

Can you post a picture of it? It's usually fungus, and treatment can vary depending on the severity of it. First off however, you need to make improvements to her habitat. Fungus can easily re-occur and becomes more difficult to treat.
