My friend got this tiny turtle (probably a hatchlings as I have never seen a turtle smaller than him) few days back and absolutely had no idea about turtles .. she kept him in the death bowl with the palm tree ... i saw this terrible condition and I recommended her this website..She is getting all the necessary things needed for the little one.. so since UVB light bulbs arent available here she takes the turtle in her garden and lets him walk on the grass under direct sun light for few hours.

2 days back the turtle was fine .. and she took him for the sunlight and he went on the plain ground with no grass.. and it was quite hot.
Suddenly he started walking weirdly with his front legs inside his shell and just crawling faster with his back legs.. as soon as she picked him up he was opening and closing his mouth as if screaming in pain for few seconds continuously... as described by her. Now he has developed some kind of white covering on his legs that swells up in water and appears like skin when dried.. Could someone helps us out ? Here's a pic look at his back legs claws/fingers .

P.S I am so greatly to this website as I have saved almost 5-6 turtles lives by informing owners the simple advice that turtles needs sunlight.

How warm is it over there? A few hours might be unnecessarily too much for a hatchling. From the pics, it does look like there might be some irritation from the hot surface.

I would apply some antibiotic cream, maybe something like Neosporin. I can't tell the severity of it, but if there were blisters or any skin shedding, I would apply some silver sulfadiazine cream.

Hi Steve, I applied Neosporin and the blisters might have healed but that area has became darker and Brownish ... I also gave him a 20 mins bath in salt water the other day with just the water reaching his legs...

Those areas are pretty thin, hopefully they'll get back to normal quickly.

Yes the nails came off too.. it doesnt looks so bad .. just the skin has turned white and he has no fingers left in his front legs.. but he seems fine eating and swimming normally.. I have no clue what I should do or should I wait for his fingers to grow back ?
