I've had my red eared slider for about four or five years now and I have recently notices little red worms swimming in her tank. I cleaned out her tank with hot water and bleach but nothing worked. I even changed the filters but that didn't work either. I've had a problem similar to this a few years ago but the worms were dark brown/black. Help?

Have you used any live food recently? What kind of substrate do you have?

Are they blood red? They might be midge fly larvae aka blood worms.
Best thing is to take a picture and post it here.

I just found some in my filters too :(

Yuck.. I just threw the pad away and the bag that holds the charcoal and hope that works.

Talk about disgusting!
