Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to the forum. But I have an urgent question that I would like to ask all the expert in this forum. I want to ask if my red ear slider's shell is rotten and being eaten away. Below are three pictures that I have taken of my turtles. Can someone or anyone help me with my turtle. Thank you in advance.

First, welcome to the forum.
Is the area soft?
How long have you had your turtle and when did the problem start - has ìt gradually gotten worse or did it just show up all of a sudden?

Also, please try to answer the basic questions ( link below). It will help people to get a feel for what's going on.

Thank you for welcoming me.

The white area is soft
I had my turtle for about seven years already. I started noticing the problem about two weeks ago on the left side of the shell. The white area has increased a little and now the right side is having the same problem but the area is smaller.
Is this a serious and major problem?

Yes that is very bad that it is doing that, this will lead to it dying if not treated. You wanna dry dock it immediately and find a vet. I don't think it shell rot either but have I seen turtles where brim just starts to just get eaten away from it having an internal bacteria infection. I think that is what is going on here too either that or you have very bad shell rot but I don't think so. Find a vet immediately, don't let it go.

Yes, this is possibly septic. I would take him to a vet ASAP.
