Hi there again,

I have noticed that my younger turtle (Steak) has begun, almost, shedding her skin? Not her shell, but from her little hands and feet...it looks like there is skin flaking off.

Is this normal?

I also noticed her, yesterday while basking, she had all hands and feet extended, her next was extended and it looked like she was laying her head to the side. I got REALLY scared and thought something was wrong. Then I found her in the same position, head towards the bottom of the tank - almost seemed stuck in the plants/rocks (which have since been removed) - I ran outside to call my brothers - when I returned everything seemed back to normal and her "brother" - Tyson, was following her close.

Is this normal?

I was a little anxious over it - as I have never had RES, I don't know what certain behavior is normal and what should be a serious issue. Thanks!

I bet it's shedding. My baby map also extends his legs and feet out. I guess it's stretching?
Turtles:
Dexter (RES)
Shelby (RES - gone and I feel really really bad).
Miracle (Box Turtle - Given to me after Shelby left us).
Orion (Mississippi Map Turtle).

Thin and wispy in the water, clingy and nearly invisible out of water is usually normal skin shedding.

My turtle went through the same thing (the shedding) during a growth spurt. It all cleared up within a couple weeks.
