Hi we have a RES, we've had him for a year and his shell is very white looking we have a basking light an area also the UVB light and added a calcium turtle to his water and cuttlefish bone but nothing seems to help ... Any advice ?

Are you using VitaShell? I have heard of this before.
Turtles:
Dexter (RES)
Shelby (RES - gone and I feel really really bad).
Miracle (Box Turtle - Given to me after Shelby left us).
Orion (Mississippi Map Turtle).

Can you take a picture?
It could be something serious like fungus or if it is an older turtle it maybe turning melanistic.
