Hi, I am an employee in a small mom and pop pet store. There is a huge pond full of red eared sliders. I have worked here for a year and a half and have never seen one death or illness in the turtle pond, it's a really good setup. In the last two days most of the turtles have become ill and several have died! The owner believes some has poisoned the pond. What is the likelihood of this being the cause?

Possible, perhaps a disgruntled employee? Maybe it was unintentional such as fertilizer run off or completely natural such as a disease outbreak. Impossible to tell unless you test the water.

Either way, I would move the turtles and clean the pond if possible.

I agree with devilduck. If possible, have necropsies done as well and hopefully you can get some answers.
