I have a 10 gallon tank and it was in pretty poor condition before I got some new things and improved it. However, since the last few days I've been paying close attention and my turtles eyes are swollen and shut. I have not seen him open his eyes for days and he rarely brings himself out of his shell. When I put him in the water he stays in his shell for a minute and then tries to swim back to land, but he can't see so he just runs into the glass and uses that to find his way around and eventually to the floating basking platform. I have tried feeding him pellets and shrimp, and he will not eat. (I guess because he can't see the food?) and I'm beginning to think I'm gonna lose the guy... He sometimes looks up and exhales like he is gasping for air or wheezing but I actually haven't seen him do this today. I thought it was a respiratory infection at first but he isn't floating lopsided or having bubbles or anything like that. These are all of the symptoms I've seen. I've bumped the tank up to 80 degrees and I got a calcium block and put it in there. I'm not sure of the basking temp, but it should be fine because I have a heat lamp over it.
He rarely comes out of his shell and moves around except to find his way out of the water. He's really worrying me.
I have two small heaters in the tank, a filter, a floating basking platform, a plastic plant, and a rock at the bottom. Should I just get him some eye drops or what? Help!
