The turtle (9" female) is in my classroom at school in a 110 gallon plastic stock tank. I just found out that the power is going to be off in my building due to construction from tomorrow (12.27) until January 4th. So, I need to bring her home with me. I have a tiny car and and a tiny house so I cannot bring the tank home.

I do have several empty Rubber Maid containers that I can put her in to allow her to soak, but she'll basically need to stay in a container in my spare room for the majority of her time here.

Is this going to be okay for me to do to her? It's a bit of an emergency situation...

Its a better option than leaving her in the tank. Make sure to have a heat light and basking spot. Can you bring the water heater and lights home with you?

Yep, I can do that. Thank you for the suggestion. There is no way I would leave her--it's a rare Texas cold-snap we're going through right now. Although she was originally wild, she's been an indoor captive for a year or more.

She's in a heated room full of land hermit crabs (in tanks); so I think she'll be fine as far as heat. I can also let her roam around a bit for some exercise in my hallway. I think I'm going to go buy a small stock tank (35 gallons, I think) and use that as a temp soaking pool. After she's done with it; I'll sanitize it and save it as a food trough for my horse or water trough for my dog.

Right now she's snug in her Rubbermaid container lined with a bunch of fleece scraps. All seems well, but it's only been a few hours!

Well, The best thing is she has someone that cares. Sounds like she will be fine.

I've seen storage containers up to 60 gallons... you can also pick up a small kiddie pool. Though it sounds like you have it figured out, good luck! :)

So far so good. She likes the fleece as she is always burrowed under it. She also had no trouble pooping in it! She's in the soaking tub right now and the fleece is in the washer! I'm not sure if she's eating or not so today I gave her just a piece of leaf lettuce--something I can easily monitor the consumption of and she loves her lettuce.

It's a completely new and foreign routine and she's a bit freaked out, but doing as well as can be expected.
