Urgent Care :: My Turtle's Tail has flesh falling off Help!!!

I have a red eared slider who is at least 10 years old. He has been fine with no problems. When I moved he started having problems. It looks like his flesh is coming off of his tail. I don't have another turtle so I know he wasn't attacked. He is eating fine and his behavior hasn't changed. I am just very worried. I'm cleaning out the tank today and I was wonder if anyone had any suggestions on what was going on and what I should do.

are you sure he not just shedding? Post some pictures, if it's really bad dry dock him for a few days in a warm dry place.

I agree, post some pics so we can better help you. I have never heard of this, unless he scrapped he tail on a rough surface.

or maybe the "flesh coming off his tail" is his male organ? what color is it?

I'll try to post a picture tomorrow. It's on the top of his tail and it's whitish.

Sounds like a shed to me, is your tank a little warmer then normal?
