hi all.. i recently bought a new hatchling and i realize that there is a small crack right in the middle line of the bottom shell, near the neck area.. and there is a small black area around the crack.. is it some kind of shell disease?? below are some pics.. hope u can see clearly.. any help will be appreciated.. thx

I would just regularly check on it. If you'd like, maybe a gentle brushing and make sure he's basking.

Keep that area clean and keep a close eye on it as steve said. If it doesnt get better soon, contact a vet and make an appt. Dont want to see him get worse. Also, lightly rub your finger across it on the inside and see if its sharp. Might be cause for other worry. Turtles may have a tough skin, but my worry would be it getting caught in there and the little guy stressing causing damage. Might just be WAY over thinking on my behalf, maybe steve can advise better on this.
