I'm pretty sure my female RES has eggs, she has a bump behind each leg. And upon picking her up I noticed they seems pretty solid like an egg, I didn't push too hard. It seems she's still a bit young to have eggs from what I've read, but they definitely feel like eggs. Anyway, I'm fearful that se might retain her eggs, I also have two males. They are all about 4 inches and a bit over a year old (from when I got them, 1") I don't have a very large basking area and no where to nest her.

.
I'm considering bringing her to the vet some time next week. How long should I give her for a chance to lay the eggs in the water?
If I get a medium sized rubbermaid tub (space is tight) with some sand and dirt, would that be enough and for how long? That's really all I can offer :(

I should mention, she's a bit restless but has her appetite.

Any advice, ideas?

Eggs will be in front of the rear legs... in that pocket where their "knee" joint goes when the shell up. That said, her living conditions will likely get her gravid.

My experience with setting up a nesting area indoors has always failed. My females are far too picky for that. Is it at all possible to take her outside and watch her walk around and find a spot. I live in an apartment so I take mine to my sister's house or to a park with a soccer field. It takes her about 2-3 hours in total to find a spot, dig, lay and cover them. The problem with just waiting for her to lay in the water is that they may not do that especially if they are fertile. She could retain them and become egg bound. It is also important to make sure that she is getting enough calcium in her diet for the formation of the eggs.
