I just got a new RES from someone who didn't take very good care of it, as in, only fed pellets, didn't have good enough lighting, too small a tank etc.
This turtle's shell looks pretty bad, the soonest appointment at the vet I could get is next Tuesday because I work unfortunate hours, so I was hoping someone could tell me some stuff to do to help until then? He's been acting fine, pretty friendly and his eyes look okay, but I've never had an aquatic turtle (I've got other reptiles). He's already shed a large amount of scutes since I got him and added a new light, so I think he has a lot of retained ones, and possibly a fungus?
Also He will eat worms and pellets, but not feeder fish or veggies, and he's not using the calcium bone, any way to get him to eat new foods?
I've added some pictures of his shell...

Looks like fungus. A full shed or two will help a great deal.

For veggies, try leaving some freshwater aquatic plants in there or use a veggie clip. Also try sheds of carrot. What's a calcium bone? If it's cuttle bone, make sure you remove the backing.

Thanks, I did remove that backing, but only after I looked up how I was supposed to use it, they really should put better directions on those things.
He ate some carrot today, apparently he takes new food items if I give it to him with tongs the first time.

A veggie clip works the same way... they can eat it when they're alone and comfortable.
