i just got my turtles back from my mom because she didn't want to take care of them anymore. i noticed a bit ago that one of them has a couple of these brownish reddish crater? spots on the bottom side of his shell. it almost looks like it was worn down 2 or 3 layers by something and parts of it are kind of peely.

is there anything i can do? is it bacteria? please help :/

Was your mom using anything rough on there basking area that look look like is was worn down. If im correct the only thing you need to worry about is infection and making shure what ever the were rubbing down there shells on that its taken out soon and work on healing him

Looks pretty deep and very sensitive. To be honest, I would take him to vet as he might need antibiotics and maybe an antibiotic cream. You can dry dock him in a very clean area and use a gentle antiseptic like Hibiclens (diluted).
