I have had my RES for about a year now and he has been just fine and eats normally and would swim around and act like a normal turtle. Well recently he has stopped eating and wont swim he just floats. I have no idea what to do and I don't want him to die. He's part of my family! Please help!!

Thank you,
Ashley

I'm by far not an expert on turtles. however, as with any other of gods creatures, when they start acting lethargic, I would have a vet trip planned as soon as I possible could. Only a good vet check will give you some positive directions to go in.

There are links on the RES site that will help you search for a vet in your area if you don't already have one in mind.

Yes, if he is floating that is not a good sign combined with the not eating. He could have a bad respitory infection. You should seek a vet asap as it can be deadly if left go.

First, welcome to the Forum and trusting us with your question.
Ashley, I have to agree with WarChief and Diamondbacks4Life - not eating AND just floating is a bad sign.
Find a vet in your area and get him checked. Taking a shortcut at this point is playing with fire. Trust me. I know.
