So I was taking him out of his tank to give him his weekly vitamin and shell scrub and noticed the very tip of his tail is is gone..I've noticed for about a week now it looked like he was shedding skin..it seemed stuck on the tip of his tail all week well the dead skin is gone and so is the tip of his little tail..what happened there's nothing in the tank but his pinnapple and his basking rocks (not including filter and thermometer) its not red at all but the plastron? The belly part is just a little dingy around the edges is everything ok with him? Kinda worriedill post pics in a bit I have to crop them and it takes a bit but what uve experienced would be appreciated

Some pics would be very helpful. I've seen some tail tips that are very fragile but I'd be more concerned about the plastron right now.

Should I dry dock him? Major basking time? I did make a note to my self he didn't bask much over the weekend the fireworks scared the crap outta him..maybe he wasn't able to dry off for a couple days...can that hurt them? Could it be bruised maybe for diving off his rocks too much in one day? Its still soft, his belly...is that normal for a turtle only 1 and a 1/4 long baby

I can't see anything from the pics regarding the tail. I'd make sure there is nothing abrasive in his tank and that he does get a chance to bask as much as possible. What's his diet like? Does he get some calcium in there?

Yes, he has a cuttle bone in there..I started the other day giving him a fresh carrot shaving to see if he would even eat it..I know its not cal. Suppliment but I thought it would be a nice healthy snack..he ate half the little shaving...lol it gave him an orange beak was freakin bout that. Too till I satarted giving him his vitaminthen it came off(the orange beak)...as far as cal goes. Iquit soaking the pellets in cod liver oil cause I don't think it really soaks in to far and when I put them in the tank as it sits there the oil looks like it comes off in the water leaving a film..he also shreeds most of it when he trys to eat the whole piece..so I got a cuttle bone in hopes he would get more calcium that way and less mess for me...as far as his belly is concerned that's normal lookin? Do they darken as they grow? I know the first yr is rapid changes...never raised one before don't know what's normal..haha ti reminds me of having my daughter...never raised ah human before and ran to my mom for everything

Is he actually eating the cuttlebone? What's the basking area like? What's the supplement you are using? It really shouldn't have that orangy color, but it doesn't look that bad. You just might need to do some habitat/diet corrections to resolve it.

Have you been able to get the water temperature to go up? The river rock shouldn't be a problem but his shell will be slightly pliable as a hatchling.

No still can't get it above 73-75...it flux between the two...I could try nukin a wet towel and wrapping the tank..but that would consume a ton of time keepin it warmed up..other than that there's nuthin I can do till finances free up a little..kinda stuck in a gloomy spot on that one

You need to get some of the basics locked down. Dealing with illnesses makes everything much more difficult. Maybe look into a second lamp to bring up the temps a bit.

I know it's tough, especially when starting out. Is the heater defective? If you bought that heater recently, it might be worth a trip to the store where you bought it.
