Urgent Care :: What is the sore on my RES's head?

At first, I thought he had an ear abscess, but then I noticed the white part of the wound. My gut feeling tells me it was an abscess that has burst. So, can someone tell me what this is and how I can fix it? I understand that if it is an abscess I will have to go to the vet. However, I am seventeen and that means I will have to talk to my mother about it. I do not know when it will be possible to get to the vet, for financial reasons, but I will take him as soon as I can, if need be. So, what is this, and what can I do in the meantime to help him?

I agree that it is an abscess, but I'm not sure if it has burst or not. It might soon. It is a fairly routine procedure for herp vets, so it couldn't hurt to look around and ask for a price or ask for a discount if your resources are limited.

Should go to the vet. They have to remove the abscess deeper than the surface or it might keep coming back.
