I went to the pet store today to ask what they suggested for us to do when we leave town for 3 days . They told us that the banquet block was the best choice . It claims to dissolve in the water and the turtle will eat it . It also says its a "treat" is it okay for him to eat this for 3 days until we come back ?

It's not going to hurt for a few days, but get him on a healthy diet. Read up on the basic care and nutrition at the top of the page. Good luck! Look forward to seeing pics!

I'd probably skip the banquet blocks. How big is your turtle?

Your turtle will be fine without food for 3 days. Just feed him right before you leave. I think those turtle blocks will just mess up your water quality. 3 days is not that long.
