My red eared slider had a small glass thermometer in her tank which is attached with the little suction cup it came with. She has the habit of smacking it off the side of the tank so yesterday she smacked it off yet again and when I went to go reattach it I found it was missing the end of it. I quickly retrieved it but was never able to find the glass piece and I'm hoping it was sucked up by the filter but she has an injury on her mouth. Other than that she's been very active and seems to be 100% but I do have some concerns.

My questions are:
1. What are the dangers if she ingested the glass?
2. What can I use as antiseptic as I don't want the cut to get infected?

That's pretty scary. If she were my turtle, I would take her to a vet for an x-ray. If you're certain the piece was small, you'll want to extract any feces as soon as possible. Is is on the outside or inside of the mouth?

1) possible intestinal or organ damage, depending on size eaten
2) outside of the mouth you can dab the area with diluted betadine. If it's a deeper cut, I would use diluted Hibiclens (chlorhexidine).

You might want to dry dock her so the wound will heal faster and she'll less likely eat her poop out of water.
