Um... my boyfriend unknowingly startled my turtle, and the water from the splash made the bulb from her uvb lamp explode. I took her out and she is in a seperate container, but i dont have a siphon and im afraid to put her back in. There doesnt seem to be any large peices of glass, i already skimmed the tank with my fish net, but im afraid there might be smaller ones, less visible to the eye. Any suggestions?

I don't use a siphon, I use a bowl and drain it that way into a bigger container then dump then when tank water is low enough i take it outside and dump and do a complete wipe down and rinsing then refill and add what needs to be done IE drops to clear clorine ect.

Plus, there are also chemicals inside those bulbs. Use a stronger wattage bulb further away or look into a ceramic bulb.

For the moment I have her set up in her old tank, and she looks miserable :( I’m so glad I got the bigger one... I'm going out now to get the siphon, and I'll do a whole tank clean out tonight when I get back from work. Thanks for you suggestions :)

How close was the bulb to the basking area?
