How long have you had the turtle? How long has the shell been like that? Is there anything in the tank that's abrasive that your RES could have rubbed against?

The pics are blurry and there's some glare...From what I can see, it looks like part of the scute's been taken off, but that could just be the pic. Can you get a better one(s) with the shell dry (I'm assuming the glare is from a wet shell)?

Pics of the shell dry would be helpful.

Looks like she rubbed her shell onto something rough. And that white scratch might be a hard water deposit.

The white mark, if it has a rough feel to it, could be a bit of bone layer showing. In Pic #3, there is some reddish color in between the scutes (seams) which does bring concerns. Hopefully it's due to the pics, but there does seem to be some issues with the shell.

It's possible that something is wrong, I would strongly consider a vet visit.

Perhaps because the UVB light is "new" to her, she's being hesitant. How is it positioned?

Can you get at least one pic of the area when the shell is dry?

It appears to be shell rot and/or some other type of infection. I strongly suggest you seek a qualified herp vet.

Do you mean that there are other white areas or that other scutes are starting to come off?
