that pic isn't very clear. Can you dry him off and get a few pics from different angles? Is this an injury or a shell condition that came about gradually?

No it doesn't smell, and it is not soft.

well that pretty much rules out shell rot...

I've never had a turt with such a condition so I don't want to tell you to do something and then end up being wrong about it. Did it just turn up one day or was it gradual?

It was gradual. One layer of the scales or whatever you call them came off easy when I pulled her out of the water and was drying her off, it was like they hadn't shed for a while. None come off anymore though. The ones that came off over the white places didn't seem weird at all. No holes on them or anything like that. What else could it be.

might wanna call the vet, try describing it, they should be able to tell you, they probably wont charge to tell you what it is, but they will charge if you bring....him/her in.

How many layers of scutes came off, and is that what the shell looks like after your turtle shed them? How often do you change the water and clean the tank?

I'd get your turtle to a herp vet. The vet could determine whether the problem is bacterial or fungal and prescribe appropriate medication. (Shell rot is still a real possibility. Really, I think your turtle needs to see a vet...)

It would be best to take him to a vet.
