Urgent Care :: turtle with rear swollen feet only, help!

noticed recently turtle has rear swollen feet only. i've had it for about a year today. HELP!

Is he moving his feet normally? Can he walk normally? Can you provide a photo?

yes, it can still climb things and such. don't have a camera.
the feet seemed to of popped, did my best to clean them up w/ iodine. took it out of its regular cage.

So his feet were blistered? We had another turtle on here with something similar recently. Here's the thread. Take a look at the link to the photo that's on the thread. Is that what your turtle's feet look like?

Unfortunately we never got to the point where we knew what had caused this poor turtle's condition.

Assuming the skin is open, you might put some antibiotic ointment on the raw areas.

yah thats what the turtle's feet look like! a friend thought it was something viral.. u sure its blistered?

We never found out what was wrong with that other turtle's feet. I assumed they were blistered because they looked blistered, but now I'm very curious.

Actually, blisters can be caused by any number of things - skin disease, chemicals, insect bites as well as by heat.

How are your turtle's feet doing today? Have you put antibiotic ointment on them?

Hello this is my first post and I don't know how to work this site but I am having a similar issue with my turtle but it is his front right foot and it is very swollen and the nail looks to be infected please help every vet around my small town has never delt with a turtle before and it is very irritating
please help

How long have you had it? Almost 2 years
What is the water temperature? 75 degrees
Did you use a thermometer? Yes
Are you using a water heater?yes
How much water is in there? 40 gallons
Are you using a water conditioner?yes
Are you using any filtration? Yes
What is the basking temperature? 78 to 80 degrees
Is there a basking light? Yes
Is there a basking platform that is easy to climb on? Yes one is wood the other is like stone
What kind is it or what is it made out of? One is wood
Is there a UVB light? Yes
What have you been trying to feed it? Pellets
When was the last time your turtle ate? He eats very little since he has been sick
How big is the tank/pond/enclosure? 50 gallon
Is the tank near a window? No
Is the tank in a room with a lot of activity?not really
Have you read the Basic Care section? Yes
Have you searched the forums for similar situations? Yes
Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? He spends a lot of time basking and even at night he stays out on the dock while the other turtle acts just fine (normal)

Hi Tony, if it is indeed an infected nail bed, then I'll look for a qualified vet in a neighboring town. These type of infections can be serious and severe, and would need to be addressed cautiously.
