HELP!!!I just got this turtle tonight althought I've owned previous sliders I have never seen this before. When I brought her home I notice she has black tissue hanging out of her butt it is soft and appears to be part of her. It's seems to be coming from were she would go to the bathroom. Does anyone know what this could be? It's almost like it's part of her and it is not turtle waste. She is swimming around and doesn't seem to be in distress. Any response would be appreciated

Is it going back in at all?

Here's a link to a post that might help. It could be that 'she' is actually a 'he'

Good thing someone had the same question I did becuase I would of gone crazy if I had to wait for a while for someone to tell me my turtle is a boy. Man was i panicking, i thought my squirty had way too many rocks to eat.

Don't let them eat rocks :)
Try gravel sizes that are bigger than the head, use sand, or a bare bottom

I have read that sand can also cause impaction, I would stick with either river rocks or bare bottom. :D
