I just got a 7% UVB lamp for my turtle, and he's afraid of the bright light the lamp produces, now he's afraid to go on the basking dock. Will he get used to the light?

What is the temp of the basking dock? the water temp? Maybe it's too hot to get up on there or there is no reason to since the water is as warm as the dock

the dock is 80 degrees.

I just got the UVB light today, i had the UVA, and this new UVB light is a lot strong than the original UVA light.

If the water is close to that temperature, there would be no reason to bask. It seems a bit low compared to what others have on their dock. Try raising the temperature to about mid 80's to the early 90's
And keep the water temperature about 10 degrees lower than the dock.

Good idea :) UVB doesn't give off much heat so the UVA would be good to combine.

just put the UVA back on, he loves it, not jumpy and scared to bask, the light coming out from the UVA is more mild, yellowish :) now the temperature is 95 :)

You should use both at the same time.. UVB bulbs do not give off heat just the light.. you need another source for heat. You can use just a regular house lightbulb for your uva/heat source.

He needs to bask with the UVB bulb to get the benefits of it, therefore the heat from the UVA bulb will enduce him to bask .. hope that all makes sense :)

Have the UVB light about 8 inches from him when he's basking. The basking area should be 88-90F, so position the heat lamp to get the temp in that range.
