Urgent Care :: Panic time?

Yertle ate almost 40 (!!!) Reptomin sticks for dinner with red-leaf lettuce. ))

I got to thinkin'....He has always been a VERY eager eater. (Little pig) and sometimes bumps his beak pretty hard on the side of the tank chasing something that is up wall, and I've seen him use his nose/face/beak to move some pretty hefty pieces of rock to get to a piece of food that drifted down. Could he have bumped it too hard, and that's what started all this? It just took the few days (eternities!) to let it heal from an 'owie' of some sort? Can a beak be bruised/damaged that easily?

Why are you giving him that much? It's not really healthy for them to eat that much. He has an injured beak now?

Nooooo-I didn't make it clear. Sorry! I was wondering if he might have injured his beak by biting at sticks that were against the side of the tank and that's what started all this; then he didn't want to eat because he'd bruised(?) his beak. Is that possible? I'm just trying to figure out what started all this so I can try to keep it from happening again.

Whatever the problem was, it seems to be okay now. He's a happy boy now. So sorry I was confusing.

Amount of feeding---I'd been told to feed him an amount about equal to the size of his head. Was I told wrong? For him, that's almost 30 sticks, which was almost what I gave him. I looked back and realized I'd written '40'. Sorry--I should proof-read twice!

Since they can't bite the glass directly, I don't think that is the problem. If he's eating a balanced diet, you can actually cut down on the pellets - less is usually better.
