Hello!
I'm back, again.
Today (not really) I found that my turtle had reddish skin on his head, I'm thinking either the scute above his head scratched that part or he got bitten by the other turtles. Oh btw, he's the biggest turtle there and he is pretty much- crazy.
I noticed it a few weeks ago but I thought it wasn't something to be worried about at the time but now I'm kinda getting worried.
hello there

deHi,

I recently moved across county. So my RES sat in the dry tub for two days in the car with me. During this time, she was constantly trying to climb out of tub, and falling(sliding) back. After I moved in to my new place, she is back in her tank. Then I noticed she got a scratch right above her right eye. It is showing pinkish color, it looks raw and painful. She got another spot symmetrical above her left eye, but smaller and less pink. I think it's from her unsuccessful attempts to escape the tub. Her shell over her head keep scraping the skin over her eyes.

I took her out of water, rinsed the wounds under clean water. I irrigated the wounds with eyedrops which contain antibiotics, then applied antibiotic ointments. Now my problem is to keep her still. If I leave her in the tub, she is doing the same thing again. It's going to make the cut worse.

Anyone has suggestions for keeping their RES dry and still? I am going to try to tape some padding over the shell above her head. But any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.

Dry dock overnight is the easiest way to do it. If it's dark and quiet with something (a shirt) to burrow under, they'll sleep peacefully. Try using something larger than a tub, maybe an area of a room where she can roam around a bit and find a spot for herself. When my RES are not cooperating, I'll bundle them up in a blanket where they can't move a lot, just be careful that they don't get themselves upside down.
