So I noticed my baby red eared slider's (less than 2-3 month of age) eyes suddenly unable to open / swollen and its legs and arm with white swollen things on it just today. Mouth opens and there are bubbles when it breaths. The vet said it was pneumonia / respiratory infection which I agreed. Baytril injection was given and we will have another injection 3 days later.

It looks really tired after the injection and would open its mouth to drink some water but then its head would raise a few minutes later and he would split out the water as it opened its mouth and seemed to breath with difficulty again. (It thus kept having its head raising up and down). Is it normal for a sick slider and what can I do?

Should I continue to force food into its mouth even though I know it would probably be vomitted? It won't eat any food voluntarily.

It randomly moved its arms and legs but sometimes it did. It just float on water but it was still breathing.

I was issued eye drops (zoomed) for it and used reptoboost and some vitamins.

What should I do for the time being?

Thanks.

Try a soak in unflavored Pedialyte/water (1:1) and leave some small, crumbled up pellets in it. You don't need much of it... just enough for him to submerge.

Swollen eyes is one thing and usually treatable. However, other swollen parts is very serious and might indicate organ failure. Baytril can suppress appetite, but the other symptoms are probably related to his illness.
