Hi,

Here are the answers to the questions (the problem is stated in the last):
How big is your turtle? hatchling
How long have you had it? 6 months

What is the water temperature? room temperature
Did you use a thermometer? yes
Are you using a water heater? no, the water is in the right temperature zone
How much water is in there? depth is double the width of the turtle
Are you using a water conditioner? yes
Are you using any filtration? no, I clean very often

What is the basking temperature? not sure
Is there a basking light? yes
Is there a basking platform that is easy to climb on? yes
What kind is it or what is it made out of? not sure
Is there a UVB light? yes

What have you been trying to feed it? ExoTerra Hatchling food
When was the last time your turtle ate? just now

How big is the tank/pond/enclosure? baby bathtub size
Is the tank near a window? no
Is the tank in a room with a lot of activity? no

Have you read the Basic Care section? yes
Have you searched the forums for similar situations? yes

Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? So, this is what happened: when the turtle is shedding its shell, the scutes showed their edges. I didn't know that it is serious. So, I tried to peel it off (OK, that was the stupidest thing I have EVER, EVER done). Now, the turtle is bleeding. The bleeding has stopped, but I don't want the infection to spread. What should I do? And, because the whole shell looks discoloured (some parts are green, some are brown, and, when dry, it the peeled part is red), is there any hope that next year when it sheds again, this thing won't happen? Please take this serious. I am very worried.

Thank you so much!

*I also wanted to mention that the turtle just started having white spots on him. Seriously! I separated the turtles so that the infection doesn't spread. I read online to soak them with iodine. What should the ratio of water:iodine be?

Minor shell injuries usually require dry docking. If you read online to soak them with iodine, then you should consult with that page/site. I don't have any info on that.

Considering what's going on, you would probably want to take him to the vet again.

http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/medshell.htm I've been working according to this site. Is everything fine, though? (shell rot)... and is it that the turtle has shell rot when the bone is exposed? ('cuz of what I've done)

Also, how long should dry docking be? And, should idone be used everyday? What about Silvadene?

I have not tried their treatments, but that should be good information. Regarding if everything is fine, I don't know. Exposed bone does not always mean shell rot, and this could be simply that it was injured.

Thanks! If my turtles were yours, what would you do? So, like, how long should dry docking be every day? For how many days should I dry dock them? Is not-ready-to-come-off scute that did come off a very huge deal? Is it life-threatening? And, is exposed bone an urgent situation? You said: 'simply that it was injured.' Does that mean that the whole thing is not that big of a deal? And, that they will heal, etc.?

I don't have enough visuals or information to make that call.

I'm seeing a mix of things here. There is a bit of shedding, but there is also an injury and some unusual shedding. It's possible theres an infection. I don't recall what was discussed before, but I think the turtle needs to be seen by a qualified vet.
