Adopted Engine about a month ago and started reading this forum and site to try to repair damage to her shell. Theres a spot about the size of one scute on her back thats damaged, and a spot on her left side between 2 scutes that it also damaged. I followed all the shell rot and repair advice given on this site. While i was cleaning shell rot on the back a big layer of both those areas came off the back one had a little blood and i followed directions that i found on here to care for that as well. Its been about a month since ive began treatment and the attached pictures are what both areas look like today. I wanted to know if these look normal for a month of treatment and if i should continue to dry dock her over night and allow her to do her thing in water and bask during the day or should i be dry docker her more or less? how long will these spots take to fully heal? thanks for any help and input.

Has any of the white layers come off? It's a bone layer, and it can't stay like that. If it comes off, there is flesh and blood underneath that will develop a protective scar over the area. If it stays exposed, it could spread the damage. Any idea how this happened? As for what to do... I would have a vet examine Engine since she might need antibiotics.

Im not to sure how it happened. Like i said i got her like this. Ive had turtles in the past so I took her in to get her better from a friend of a friend. None of it has come off, but it is pealing up slightly in the bottom right corner.

It might have to get worse before before it can start to heal, or it just might get worse. How is the area that bled? Is it the top picture?

Very tough call... the ones by the edge are *just* big enough that I would consult a vet.
