Hello everyone! I am brand new here. I have a question for everyone. I have a huge 36,000 gallon pool that I turned into a pond this spring. I put two large containers at the bottom of the pool and filled them with fine sand and then aquatic soil so that my two girls can bury down in there in the winter time, it’s kind of on the shallow end but it’s like 4 feet deep so I can’t see in the beds I made. I tried to buy a hard-core light, but it doesn’t penetrate to be able to see in the boxes. I wanted to know what your opinion is on if they are most likely using the boxes. And or if you know of a light that would penetrate 3 to 4 feet down. Thanks so much for all your help.

Hi gracielee, how big/old are your girls? When was the last time you saw them? Is there any aeration for the water? They might need more than soil to burrow under, but to check on them maybe some sort of camera probe with light attachment would work?

Hi Steve, thanks so much for your reply. So my girls are three years old and I see them every day still. No, there is no aerator in the pond. We do still use the pool filter though so that the water circulates. So that’s my problem, I haven’t been able to find a light that works well enough to see in their beds. Do you have any suggestions on one that would work, please?

If the water is not very clear, I think most lights won't help. Do you want to continually light up the bottom, or just use to check on them occasionally?
