Hi Everyone - I just registered yesterday and am happy to have a site to visit and ask questions, or just browse subjects regarding sliders. My little guy is young, probably less than a year. About 6 months ago my neighbor found him in a plastic cup stuck in between the slot machines at The Palms Hotel & Casino here in Vegas where I live !! Poor little thing, who knows how long he had been there. The only thing I can think is that some jerk brought him for "luck" and then just abandoned him. He was only about the size of a silver dollar.

People are always bringing me animals to take in so I rushed to the garage and got a 10 gallon tank I had empty, he seems very content and healthy. I bought him all the necessities and he has a nice rock he can come up onto to bask in the evenings. My plan is to keep him until Spring, then probably give him to a nursery I know that has a pond display with other sliders, they said they would take him and he could be with others of his own kind. I have a lot of pets and really I think it would be the best place for him. One thing though, he is a voracious eater and begs a lot, is this normal? After reading some info on this site I am thinking I have been feeding him too much.

Well that's my turtle story - Thank you all for reading my post and I look forward to reading all the great info. on this site. :)

Very happy that you rescued him. I'd just make sure the nursery is not overcrowded with RES. Welcome to the forum!
