What kind of tortoise is this?
Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 1:56 amI just rescued this tortoise. Can you guys tell me what kind this is i was told its a desert but not sure? And whats up with his/her shell?

Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:24 pmHis legs are sort of blurry in the picture - are those raised bump-like things on the front of them? Or are his legs smooth?
How pronounced are the dark edges of his scutes? Are they very dark, or do they just sort of fade from a darker brown to a lighter brown? Again, just something that's a little harder to see.
He does sort of look like the images of baby desert tortoises.

Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:43 pmIf he is a desert tortoise, I think his shell is okay unless the scutes are broken or misshapen or something - it looks like their shells tend to be "flatter" than most tortoises, and not always perfectly curved. I'm by no means an expert - I'm just offering ideas based on the searches I just did trying to figure it out for you.
