Today from taking pictures, I discovered (after confirming with ATP) bear has an ear abscess.

Heres a shot.

Hopefully Bear will pull through and be ok. We are calling the vet monday as they are closed tomorrow. I dont understand how I couldn't have seen this before. My guess is he had it before I got him. Its my mistake for not checking that he was in good health. I can't imagine the pain he's going through. I'll keep you updated.

That doesn't look nearly as swollen as some abscesses we've seen on here. Don't beat yourself up too much.

I'm glad you're getting him to the vet ASAP, you're a good owner to make him a priority. Good luck at the vet's.

Don't beat yourself up about it. This happens when boxies don't have enough humidity in the habitat. It's quite easily remedied (make sure the vet has worked with turtles before)
