Hey,
What boxie pellets are you guys all using that are working? My 3-toeds will eat just about anything I put in there, but the Ornates won't touch any pellets. I've tried everything I can find locally around here, but am wondering if you guys are using something different. I have tried the reptomin as well.

Mazuri makes a good pellet. Although its made for tortoises, I know TerryO feeds it and has good results.

I haven't yet been able to find a pellet that my boxie will eat. I just try to give him a varied diet of worms, other bugs, fruits, veggies and vitamins.

I just made a new batch of this mixture today. I chop up grape leaves, escarole, dandelion, rose of Sharon leaves, squash, corn, mango, cactus fruit, and a very small amount of pumpkin. Then I put some soaked mazuri in and mix it all up. I change off on the veggies when I make another batch. After I mix it up I add some calcium powder, and make balls with an ice cream scoop. I put them in plastic wrap and freeze them. In the AM I take out a ball, and let it defrost. I do this in the winter when I can't go outside and pick greens and veggies in my garden. My boxie loves it and eats every drop.

Oh, I forgot to add that her enclosure has on one side a lot of compost and leaf litter, where I throw in worms and little bugs, so she always has an opportunity to dig and search for things herself.

wow terryo, you're quite the chef!
my problem is that my ornate's really aren't anxious to eat anything but live prey. I have to stop offering live prey occasionally just to make sure they are eating some of their fruits and veggies.

Tom and Ashley...I had the same problem with my Ornate, Nora. She only wanted worms or bugs of any kind. I didn't feed her for 3 days. Poor thing..she walked up and down that enclosure all day, looking out at me. I felt so guilty. Then I put some strawberries in there and she ate them. After that she would only eat strawberries (besides her buggie things) Finally I just started mixing things in the with strawberries and reduced the strawberries. She was a very finicky eater. Have you tried Mazuri? Most turts and torts love the stuff.
