So, I was looking for a thread on turtle sleeping behaviors, and didn't see one... Does anyone want to share how their turt sleeps? Sometimes my turt sleeps with her head tucked all the way in, and I'm afraid she will drown when I see that! She usually sleeps all relaxed, stretched out. She will swim up for air with her eyes still closed lol.

Mine will sleep either way. Sometimes they're all tucked in. Don't worry, they always know when to surface for a breath.

I have never seen my Donatello sleep either; I assume he does at some point though. In fact, I have only seen his eyes closed a couple of times. He has winked at me a few times though!

My turt sometimes takes a nap during the day for like an hour, and goes to sleep after I turn the lights off and turn her night light on... :)

Thanks, Jessica! I think Donatello is a pretty common name for a turtle, though. I am not sure if I meant to name him after the artist, or one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles.

Sheba likes to sleep at night on her big fake tree root (see pic). She actually lounges on it during the day quite a bit too. It's very cute!

i catch mine sleeping on the edge of my zoo meds small floating dock... sometimes head tucked in, other times, with their head out... but turtles will come up for air during the night when they need it, and just like us their metabolic rate will slow during the night, so they dont use as much oxgyen...
