I have one of those floating basking docks in his tank. I took the bottom suction cups off so he wouldn't get stuck if he tried to wiggle behind the rails. So when I turn off his lights at night he tucks him self in between the dock and the glass. It's too funny.

Mine all sleep in different spots. Some near the surface on fake plants sometimes they sleep on the bottom on the sand.

Mine usually stay on the bottom, sleep-foraging.

Lately? Fitfully. Her tank is too small. I'm trying to get her new home tonight (fingers crossed). The water's too cold. She's clawing at the container trying to escape. Stressing me out.

I can't turn off the lights until she's ready. I turned the lights off and had her in another room but felt guilty, so I went went to check, she was hiding in her little fake rock cave :(

Another time, when I had her in the bedroom with me and I switched off the lights (because I be tired!), she panicked and started flopping all over the place, so I turned the lights back on until I see her closing her eyes.

Should I be more strict about her sleeping schedule? This will be moot soon because I don't think I'll be moving her larger aquarium from room to room, LOL.

Also, we've gotten into the habit of her feeding time around 7pm, which of course energizes her, so she's active after she eats. Is this an ideal time for feeding? My mornings are early and hectic. She's always up with me around 5 & 6am, poor thing. :msgreen:

She sleeps underwater, frequently beneath her fake plants.

What kind of real plants should I keep an eye out for for her to gnaw on? Will she overeat?

Your turtle should follow outdoor lighting. Lights on at sun up. Lights off at sunset. Just like in nature! Dogs cats etc can adjust to our lives but reptiles have different needs.

If it's dark already before I turn her lights off, I'll find her sleeping on her basking rock. As soon as I turn her lights off, she gets in the water to sleep.

Shoot, I leave before sunrise, and am home after dark five days a week. Not sure I'm comfortable leaving the incandescent full hood aquarium reflector model (the lights) on when I'm not present.

Not sure I'm comfortable leaving the lid on when I'm not home (oxygen deprivation) but don't want all the heat to escape. Dilemmas! What would I do without you guys!! :msgreen:

I'd be worried about the condensation there. Are all of the gear plugged into a gfci?

Worried about condensation?! Someone else (kansasslider?) told me it's normal!

What's a gfci??

Gfci is a electrical outlet with a breaker built in. It turns off the power the second it detects a fault. Like if the heater gets a leak or you drop a light in the tank. Condensation is normal inside of tanks. My atba had condensation on the bottom of it all the time. There should be no condensation on the outside of the tank.

Wouldn't condensation inside mean it's humid? Or at least that depends on the lid you have.

Yes I suppose so or the air temp of the room is colder than the water temp.

George slept on her basking rock earlier, even though it's daytime.

Now she's got her arms holding on to the basking floating rock, letting her legs dangle. Too cute.

She stays up very late at night. I still follow the "lights on, day; off, night..." as much as I can. But she's a regular daytime snoozer!!
