I have a 5 year old female RES that is living in the bathtub, and 17 or so months ago a male yellow-bellied slide visitor was living in the same bathtub that my RES lives in and it seems that he impregnated her. But not 17 month later, my turtle keeps laying eggs; she just dropped one out an hour or two ago and the count is 25-27 eggs so far. Is this normal?

RES and YBS can interbreed, but RES females can lay eggs even if they have never been impregnated.

Do you have a nesting area for her?

No, its just a plain bathtub with a rubber drain stopper.

Does she have a basking area, lamp and UVB light? Is she still laying eggs?

There is no basking area or UVB light, there is only a sink that I put the turtle into when I need to take a shower or clean the bathtub. Sometimes she can spend up to 6 hours there and take a nap, and there is a fluorescent vanity lightbulb over the sink. She frequently tries to climb out of it, and sometimes she hooks-up the overspill hole in the sink with a rear claw and is able to pull herself out.

She still keeps laying eggs: broken one on May 28th and intact one just yesterday.

Just found another one 20 minutes ago. It is intact but kinda smaller than the other eggs.

Me too. Just woke up and found another egg [cracked]. Last year it was 21 eggs.

You still should look into a basking area, uvb and basking lights. How's her diet like? Is she getting enough calcium?

I guess the diet is okay; she eats green ReptoMin, red ReptoTreat and also the dried mealworms from Kaytee. Sometimes I also give her sliced cold cuts of bologna. The scutes began to come lose couple of months ago, so I helped her take them off throughout a period of 2 weeks. All old scutes are gone except a fregment of the rear left once that seems to be welded-shut.

She frequently lays in the sink [like in the photo] for several hours underneath the CFL lightbulb.

No cold cuts for her. The turtle does look good and seems well adjusted, though it's very unconventional.
