My local shop has a albino RES about 4" long. Its the best looking turtle I have ever seen. If I didnt already have my two and an extra $500 I would totaly get it.

That's cool. I've never seen an albino RES. Maybe you sneak in and take a pic of it for us. ;)

I read some where that they were harder to take care of. For some reason. But I would still love to have one. lol

I don't think albino RES are good idea. Thousands of extra RES are breed so that a breeder or turtle farm will hatch one. The problem with that is contributing to the RES overpopulation, which is a whole other topic. Albinos also wont live as long as 'normal' RES and will probably have a host of other health issues.

I wouldn't support anyone who breeds specially turtles (2-headed, conjoined, blind and albino).

I just assumed that albino RES were a natural rare occurrence in the gene pool. I had no idea people actually tried to breed them to result in albinos. That's sad.

They are harder to take care of--they're more sensitive to light, among other things. There is a real market for them, though. Pastel sliders are also becoming increasingly popular, and both are bred for their unusual characteristics. I think albinos look spooky.

Albinos are spooky! Two-headed and conjoined turtles are even spookier. What do you do with a conjoined turtle? I can't see how it would even live...
I think pastels are pretty... but I really am a fan of "traditional" animals. Ones that actually look like animals.

You got to admit that albinos, conjoined, and two-headed animals are pretty spooky. But it would be pretty comical if a two-headed turtle were fighting itself over food, I'd like to see that.
