turtle yawning

with one of my turts ill notice that when basking he kinda tilts his head back and opens his mouth wide and stretches.. looks like a human when yawning.. is this normal

If that's all you see is his yawning, yes it is normal, but if it's in conjunction with any symptoms of RI, then you should be concerned.

My RES yawns once in a while while basking, and I think it's similar to the way humans yawn when they're tired/relaxing. If your turtle is breathing out of his mouth and/or yawning frequently, I'd be concerned. Otherwise, what your turtle is doing sounds normal.

well he has done it while basking.. and it not all the time, but i have noticed him doing it underwater too once or twice.. ill check out the think though, but yeah especially when hes basking i have caught him a few times yawning
