How big is your turtle and how big is his current tank? Look at Rubbermaid/Sterilite storage containers or stock tanks, which are meant to hold water.

Also look at the classifieds and check out flea markets, garage sales, etc. for something used. Somes www.craigslist.org or www.freecycle.org might have something in an area near you.

Now that's being precise :) . You've got a bit of time (1/8 inch isn't that much bigger than 2 inches), so it would be good to start looking for something bigger soon (more options) . It's good that you're aware of your turtle's size and the fact that he'll be needing a bigger home.

I think it would be up to you and how many times you want to eventually upgrade when he's full grown. If you go as large as you can now you won't have to later and it may end up saving you money in the long run. But then you have to also take into account you finances right now. So I'd say to do the best you can right now with the amount of money you have to spend. :)

For your one turtle a 150gallon would be big enough for the rest of its life. So if you can afford that you'll never have to upgrade again. The others, you'd at some point need to upgrade. Just remember you'll need a filter that's rated for 2-3 times the size of the tank and with a 150 gallon tank you'll more than likely end up using a pond filter.

The only concern I'd have is that your turtle is still so tiny that he'd be overwhelmed in a tank that large but I guess you could fill it partially and definitely have plants and things for him to hang on to until he grew and was strong enough to swim in all that water :)

get teh biggest you can afford and start saving now because as we all know that they can grow very big! It will just save you moeny in the long run, but not necessary if you get a good deal!
