Let's see when Michelangelo bit me..there was no letting go. Just napped down in the webbing of my hand..I'm screaming bloody murder..and you have to remember one thing DO NOT TRY TO SHAKE THE TURTLE OFF YOUR HAND!!!! That's what I wanted to do but that'll kill them. So I'm trying to figure out how to get the turtle off of me. My mom comes up, taps the turtle on the nose...don't do that. They only bite down harder. So I'm trying not to cry at this point, and she keeps taping her on the nose. So finally we go and run her head under running water and she lets go. After she bit me I got a tip that if you try and push gently on their snout and try and get their head back in their shells, that they will let go.

Spot got me on the tip of a finger and there was no problem getting him off because he just bit that piece of skin right off! It bled like the dickens and really really hurt.

My turtles have sometimes nipped my fingers and arms when I'm feeding or cleaning the tank (which sometimes includes putting my whole arm underwater). It usually tickled, but lately it's staring to hurt now that they're older and bigger.

Some weeks ago I was feeding when a turtle got a pellet- and some of my finger, which drew blood. I was surprised because this was the first time a turt made me bleed. One time another turt actually went for my forearm, close to the elbow, when I was cleaning the suction cups on the basking dock.

Usually its unintentional but if you keep you hand in or near the tank, it will probably happen.

My RES was more apt to mistake my hand for food when he was younger. Now, he carefully sniffs my hand, seems to realize it's not food and leaves it alone.

I think the webbing between your fingers is the part at the bottom of where your two fingers meet. like the webbing between the fingers of an RES but only alot shorter.

To me, webbing is the skin between the thumb and forefinger that connects them. I have no webbing in between my fingers. :)

Bobby bites my finger if it's near the tank for food. They think i neglect them by not giving them pellets everyday.
