Mine are 10. They better stop growing soon! Sylvie is going through ANOTHER growth spurt and catching up with Raina.

Is that true? That they dont grow as much in smaller tanks? I heard it wasnt. So is it just genetics that determine size? I have also heard they dont "age"

Tank size shouldn't affect their growth.

My mother 86 years olds bought a dime store turtle for my brother when he was two years old. my brother is now 63 years old. That makes the turtle 61 years old. He is a red eared slider.

OMG! haha does that mean i'm going to have to put my 8 y.o. RES in my will? I got her when i was 18... the size of a 1/2 dollar from china town (It makes me laugh remembering how they told us they don't get any bigger).

That is insane! I hope Sheldon lives that long! Right now I think he's about 4? 5? I didn't get him as a baby so it's hard to say for sure...

I have a 39 year old red eared slider. I thought she would be the oldest turtle but I saw that there were some way older.

mine is approx 1.5 years old. she is a little over 4" getting close to 5"!

Sorry all, I know this is a old thread but, I got to keep this going! Does anyone else have a slider or any aquatic turtles that are in the 20's or above? I know LT is 10 years old now (my first RES, she had a 10% chance of living when I got her!).

I received an email recently and they believed their RES were over 100

Wow! That's is old! I will have to get a will for Toku and make sure my kids know the ways of turtle care. 100 years, that's so great to hear!
