After Leo's death I sought out to find another RES. The place I originally got him and Remy at didn't have any smaller RES. After a long day me, my mom, and my grandma went to the Sugarland PetsMart and there they had some RES's. They had about 4 or 5 RES. I knew which one I wanted once I found out they had a female RES. I knew she was a female because of her characteristics short nails and small tail. Believe it or not the tank they were in was actually unlocked. So I stuck my hand in there to see lol. No I didn't get bitten. Anyways I ended up getting her. Course PetsMart asks all these questions about if you have the habitat for them and all. She's been doing really well especially with Remy. She loves to eat veggies. I got one of those veggie clips and I put some lettuce on it and man did she go after it. Tonight I put a carrot on it, her and Remy ate most of it. So they seem to like the veggie clip. As you can see in my signature I named her Miley. I still plan on getting a 75 gallon tank for her and Remy. Got them a big PVC pipe today and they seem to like it. Right now Remy is 4 inches and Miley is 4 1/2 inches. For Miley I plan on making a nice nesting area out in the backyard. I've been trying to find a kiddie pool for them to swim in outside but have yet to find one. Wal-Mart seems to only carry them during the summer. The weather here hasn't been too well so I wouldn't be able to let them outside because it's been cold and windy. Well anyways I hope to heed great advice and learn many things on here for my two RES's.

Just so you know you should quarantine the new turtle for 60-90 days before you put them in your existing set up due to parasites and diseases that they can pass on to your other turtles.

I'm happy for your new turt! I second what flutterby has mention though. RES are great at masking their symptoms when they are sick.

On another note, a 75 gallon tank is not going to be big enough for two turtles of their size. At 4 inches each, that's a recommended 80 gallons already and it doesn't allow for any growth. I understand what you are going through because I have two about the same size and they are in a 75 gallon tank. I've been planning for the next upgrade for a few months now.

Ya, it's hard sometimes when the aquariums cost so much money. I also figure that sense I can possibly get a 75 gallon plus a stand for it from this guy who only just wants 75 dollars for the whole lot that it would last me for quite awhile until I can afford I bigger tank for them. Plus I'm planning on making an area for them in the backyard. It will be mostly a nesting area for Miley but a relaxing area for both her and Remy. How should I quarantine my new turtle?

Quarantine means to separate it from the other turtle, a different tank would be preferable.

Check out craigslist wierd - i saw a 200gal with stand for 200$ not to bad.

Just for the record, that is why most people suggest just getting one. If you can't afford the set up for one, you shouldn't get two.

Your going to need a bigger tank for them. You might consider a stock tank.

I figure everything will work out in time. Thanks Muirner I'll check that out. That does actually sound like a great deal. To me I think all aquariums should cost the amount of water they will hold like for example a 75 gallon should just cost 75 dollars. Guys I will get a bigger tank for them when I can not everyone is rich enough to but like a 175 gallon tank right on the spot. These things take a little time to reach to.
