i feel kind of dumb for asking this, but ive been realy curious.
i have two red ear slider turtle's, both are about 2 inch's, one of them is always and i mean ALWAYS active. he does nothing but swim around and beg for food, he only basks when no one is around, he's still scared of us.

and my other turtle, spends all of her time swimming, when the basking light is off. the second that i turn on the lamp, she races to the dock and basks away until i turn it off, she doesnt swim lopsided at all, and has quite an apetite.no mucu's comes out, no sneezing or yawning..so im pretty confident shes healthy.she just simply doesnt get scared of us at all, when shes basking we can wave our pinkys around her and she'll just look at it, she wont move.she goes in for a quick dip in the water here and theyre, but quickly comes back on dry land.

is this normal?

someone help me out lol

As long as she is getting in the water to rehydrate herself, then I don't see anything wrong. Some turtles just aren't as scared as others. Be thankful. I rarely get to see mine bask, and I've had them over a year. I'm beginning to think they will never get used to me.

Spot will bask for three hours straight and he doesn't give a hoot if we're there looking at him.

Neither of my turtles go away when I go near the tank, but one of them does spend alot more time in the water.

My Shawn isn't that fond of people around and will threaten to bite and dives into the water. But once she realizes it's just me she climbs back out and basks.

Diesel however REFUSES to go into the water except to drink. if she's sitting on her dock shell always sit there. If i put her into the water after moving stuff around she climbs back out. whatever she does she actually avoids sitting in the water. it gets so bad that if she can't climb out of the water she'll violently bang against the sides of the tank trying to swim up and out of the glass. It's gotten to the point that basically we've just decided to set up a heater on the ground (one of those fan ones she cant' touch the blades or the elements) and a spot lamp and she sits there on the ground and has complete free range of my entire room. i put her in for feeding and drinking twice a day, other than that she's content to sit on the floor. Walk around climbing on stacks of clothing to get a view or banging into my chair whie i'm in it. the only way to get her to stop the banging is to actually pick her up and put her on my lap. when i do that she never struggles or "swims" in the air. if i hold her in the air in front of me she just sits staring into my eyes. I can pet her chin or arms and she doesn't panic.

And very much so, These little things RECOGNISE people! because she has free range of my room, she often climbs the sides of my bedding and sits on my pillow all day. (i've come to leaving a giant pile of towels beside my bed so if she gets up she jumps off ONLY there and never hurt herself once). if i walk into the room she'll always look towards the door and sit there. if anyone else in my family walks in she doesnt panic. but the second a stranger walks in she bolts as fast as her legs can take her and either runs under the pillow or jumps off the bed at the towels.

if you think i'm reading too much into the behaviour I kid you not. when on my bed and she wants down. she always walks to the edge, but never walks off. she bends her neck down to look over the side, and will circle the end till she sees the towels and goes there.

on the floor if she wants out or water. she'll go straight to the doorway out of my room. My room has 2 identical doors on opposites sides. one for the hall, one for the closet. She ALWAYS goes to the one infront of the hallways and waits till i get there.

it's scary how much intelligence these animals actually have.
